Melbourne schools zoning are done in a different fashion compare to that of Sydney. Most of the cases you are zoned for the closest to the student’s residential address. I have done a blog entry that details how Sydney and Melbourne do their school catchment and zoning, you can visit that information by clicking this link Overview of Melbourne and Sydney School Catchment/School Zone/Local Drawing Area.
Also, Victoria also has different terminology when referring to the school zone/catchment. I have done another blog entry on this which you can find at here.
There are only limited number of schools most of them in inner Melbourne city got specific zoning and strictly enforced it. A number of schools also got enrolment ceiling as well, so even if it is your closest school technically fall into the catchment zone as well, it does not mean the school will accept the enrolment request. Always best to contact the school in question for final confirmation on whether which zone your home is zoned for.
Anyhow enough mumbling, following is the overall of primary schools in inner Melbourne city that got specific school catchment/zone assigned to them.

I will be doing an individual entry for the schools that I can found specific zoning assigned to them and list them here. You can find school by school entry with the following link
