Tasmania has a specific intake area for all primary schools, however secondary schools do not. Secondary schools in Tasmania has what you call feeder primary schools instead. So, in reality, it does have an intake zone of a sort. I have not investigated in detail regarding Tasmania’s enrolment policy, so not 100 per cent sure about other enrolment criteria.
The most common name used by the Tasmania Department of Education is called “Intake Area” which refer to that students resides in a particular area are guaranteed position in specific schools. When discussed from the perspective of a particular school is often referred to as one of the following terms.
- School Zone
- School catchment
As usual contact the school in question or Department of Education for the final confirmation.
