2022 Chatswood Public School Catchment Update

I actually would have expected many of these changes a lot sooner. Department of Education must have been waiting for the full establishment of the catchment for Lindfield Learning Village before changing the catchment of nearby schools.

Anybody who had been to Chatswood Public School recently would have a good understanding of how crowded it is. I have also predicated catchment changes will be happening, so most of the changes should not be a surprise to most people watching this field and expected.

Please also note these changes will apply in 2022 onwards.

The entire northwestern corner of the current Chatswood Public School catchment will be transferred to Lindfield Learning Village in 2022.

The southern edge of the current Chatswood Public School catchment that is south of Chatswood Gulf Club and Ferndale Park will be also transferred to Mowbray Public School.

The northeastern corner of the current Chatswood Public School catchment will be split into two segments, the eastern portion that is east of Havilah street will be transferred to Roseville Public School. The western portion of that will be transferred to Lindfield Learning Village as well.

Black is the border of the 2022 catchment and the red line is the border for the 2021 catchment boundary.

The most common name used by the NSW Department of Education is called “catchment” which refer to those students who reside in a particular area is guaranteed a position in specific schools. When discussed from the perspective of a particular school is often referred to as one of the following terms.

Changes To 2021 Selective High School Entrance Examination

Significant changes to score composition has been made. Previously half of the score comes from the school mark. In 2021, moderated school assessment score only make up 20 out of 120, which is one-sixth of the total score.

Reading is 25 out of 120, Mathematical reasoning is 25 out of 120, Thinking skills is 35 out of 120 and Writing is 15 out of 120, then plus the 20 from the moderated school assessment, it makes the total score of 120.

Basically thinking skills and writing gains more weight at expense of the Math. These changes should benefit girls a little more. Reduction of the makeup of the moderated school assessment score from half to one-sixth should also make the result more reliable and less disputed.

The questions are completely revamped as well, so 2021 will be a very interesting year for selective high school entry.

2019年度新南威尔士州和悉尼排名前100的中学（私校）

Top ranking NSW Sydney Secondary Schools (Non-government and Private) for the year 2019. The result is a combination of both year 7 and 9 numbers from NAPLAN. One thing to note is some schools listed have very low enrolment numbers so the result is possibly not a reliable reflection of the entire school’s performance and historically can have big fluctuations as well. This is why I also included the enrolment number here, some schools got big enrolment numbers as well due to they are classified as combined with both primary and secondary components counted together. One more thing to note is that the percentage is based on the number one primary school regardless of school sector Australia-wide. Just so be clear that the particular school is James Ruse Agricultural High School for the year 2019.

澳大利亚学校和新冠状病毒肺炎 2020年三月五号

我今天刚在新闻上看到来自Epping Boys High School的一名11年级学生被诊断出患有冠状病毒。因此，整个学校在本周五因新南威尔士州卫生部长的命令而关闭。

到目前为止，学校只是关闭一天的时间，另外所有学生，教师和工作人员被要求在这个周末自我隔离。这个周末也将宣布有关Epping Boys High School关闭的进一步决定。

这是新南威尔士州的第25个案例，并且感染的数量正在迅速上升，因此可以肯定地说社区传播已经持续了一段时间。悉尼北部Macquarie Park（麦格理公园）和Ryde地区附近有很多新病例。刚刚提到的Epping Boys High School也在这一地区。

在高楼中的澳大利亚学校

The newly reopened Arthur Phillip High School which is a high rise school with a 17-floor building. This is first of the many and with the pressure of the ever-expanding population, high rise schools will be a more common sight in the coming years.

Personally I prefer schools that are only 4 to 5 floor at max, this way it can still easily traversed by stairs rather than having to rely fully on elevators. The newly built Arthur Phillip High School having to stagger each year’s recess and break time. I guess this is to avoid crowding with the stairs and elevators. I am sure most of you had some painful experience with waiting for elevators. Crowded stairs also are really dangerous if not managed correctly.

Arthur Phillip High School is will also have an open-plan environment, this one is very interesting and can potentially a detriment. Anyway, it is good to see the NSW State government making steady investment and progress in dealing with the exploding student population.
