2022 Mowbray Public School Catchment Map Update

The expansion and upgrade of Mowbray Public School were completed a couple of years ago. All the old demountable classrooms got removed and replaced with a very large brand new multi-story building. I previously speculated possible changes to the catchment and what is coming in 2022 closely matched that.

Basically, the southern edges of what was previously part of Chatswood Public School got transferred to Mowbray Public School in 2022.

The most common name used by the NSW Department of Education is called “catchment” which refer to those students who reside in a particular area is guaranteed a position in specific schools. When discussed from the perspective of a particular school is often referred to as one of the following terms.

  • School Zone
  • School intake area
  • School catchment

2022 Chatswood Public School Catchment Update

I actually would have expected many of these changes a lot sooner. Department of Education must have been waiting for the full establishment of the catchment for Lindfield Learning Village before changing the catchment of nearby schools.

Anybody who had been to Chatswood Public School recently would have a good understanding of how crowded it is. I have also predicated catchment changes will be happening, so most of the changes should not be a surprise to most people watching this field and expected.

Please also note these changes will apply in 2022 onwards.

The entire northwestern corner of the current Chatswood Public School catchment will be transferred to Lindfield Learning Village in 2022.

The southern edge of the current Chatswood Public School catchment that is south of Chatswood Gulf Club and Ferndale Park will be also transferred to Mowbray Public School.

The northeastern corner of the current Chatswood Public School catchment will be split into two segments, the eastern portion that is east of Havilah street will be transferred to Roseville Public School. The western portion of that will be transferred to Lindfield Learning Village as well.

Black is the border of the 2022 catchment and the red line is the border for the 2021 catchment boundary.

2022 Roseville Public School Catchment Update

Lindfield Learning Village has finally got its catchment defined. This resulted in a large number of changes to the catchment of the surrounding schools as well. I am going to cover them one by one at both the primary and secondary level.

I will first cover the Roseville Public School, please note, this change applies for 2022.

The northern edges of the previous catchment have been transferred to East Lindfield and Lindfield Public School. Large western sections including the major unit complexes located on the boundary street have been transferred to the newly established Lindfield Learning Village.

The northeast corner of the previous Chatswood Public School’s catchment has been transferred to the Roseville Public School.

In the image below, green striped areas are catchment that got transferred out and the red striped area is the one that got included in the catchment of Roseville Public School for 2022.

Black is the border of the 2022 catchment and the red line is the border for the 2021 catchment boundary.

Lindfield Learning Village Catchment Map For 2022

NSW Department of Education has finally released the catchment information for Lindfield Learning Village recently. I will also do an analysis in the next day or two regarding the changes in the surrounding schools either tomorrow or the day after for 2022. One thing to note is that this applies to both the primary and secondary level.

Changes To 2021 Selective High School Entrance Examination

Significant changes to score composition has been made. Previously half of the score comes from the school mark. In 2021, moderated school assessment score only make up 20 out of 120, which is one-sixth of the total score.

Reading is 25 out of 120, Mathematical reasoning is 25 out of 120, Thinking skills is 35 out of 120 and Writing is 15 out of 120, then plus the 20 from the moderated school assessment, it makes the total score of 120.

Basically thinking skills and writing gains more weight at expense of the Math. These changes should benefit girls a little more. Reduction of the makeup of the moderated school assessment score from half to one-sixth should also make the result more reliable and less disputed.

The questions are completely revamped as well, so 2021 will be a very interesting year for selective high school entry.

2021 Western Australia, Perth Primary School Local Intake Area (Catchment) Map Update

I have not updated this map since I originally created in 2017. There actually had been a lot of changes since then. I have also added about 40 new schools to the map as well.

I will also further expand this map in the near future but need to do some quick update in the other states first.

2021 Western Australia, Perth Secondary School Local Intake Area Map Update

I have not updated this particular area since it was created originally in 2017. There had been a number of new secondary schools opened in the Perth metro area and some merged as well. I will also try to keep up with the yearly update of the school intake maps for Perth.

2021 South Australia, Adelaide Secondary School Zone Map Update

This map is updated for 2021 and there are only two sets of changes first is Pasadena High School has been merged into Unley High School. Second is Adelaide and Adelaide Botanic High School has taken over southern part of Roma Mitchell Secondary College and northwestern part of Norwood Morialta High School zone.

Other than above there had been no changes in the last two years.
