2023 Narraweena Public School Catchment Update

Today, I will go over Narraweena Public School and its new catchment for 2023.

It has given up a portion of its existing catchment on the west side to the Beacon Hill Public School in 2023. This area mostly consists of low-density single dwellings, so limited impact on enrolment numbers.

It will exchange some small areas on the north side with Cromer Public School in 2023. The areas exchanged are very small, only really twenty to thirty houses or so are involved in this change, so the impact will be extremely limited.

It will pick up a very large section on the east side from the existing catchment of Dee Why Public School. This area is very sizable and includes a lot of low-density houses and a number of medium-density buildings, so the increase in enrolment for Narraweena Public School due to this change will be significant in 2023.

It will pick up a small area along Warringah Road in the south from the existing catchment of Brookvale Public School. This change is also very minor only involves about 35 to 40 houses.

Please note the green-striped areas are what will be transferred away from Narraweena Public School to nearby public schools in 2023. The red-striped areas are what will be transferred to the Narraweena Public School from nearby schools in 2023. The black border is the 2023 catchment boundary and the red is the 2022 boundary.

The most common name used by the NSW Department of Education is called “catchment” which refers to those students who reside in a particular area who are guaranteed a position in specific schools. When discussed from the perspective of a particular school is often referred to as one of the following terms.

• School Zone
• School intake area
• School catchment
