Top 100 Ranking Australian Primary School For The Year Of 2019 (government/public)

Top ranking Australian primary schools (government/public) for the year 2019. The result is a combination of both year 3 and 5 numbers from NAPLAN. One thing to note is some schools listed have very low enrolment number so the result is possibly not a reliable reflection of the entire school’s performance and historically can have big fluctuations as well. This is why I also included the enrolment number here, some school got big enrolment number as well due to they are classified as combined with both primary and secondary components counted together. One more thing to note is that the percentage is based on the number one primary school regardless of school sector.

Australian Schools and Coronavirus – NSW Term 2 Started – 29th of April 2020

School started back up again today, wife handed in the exercise book for term 1 and got the material for online study for term 2. Not too much happening on the first day, both kid had a set of ANZAC related reading and art activities to carry out.

I went into the office on Monday and public transport is practically still a ghost town as you can see from the photo below. There are like in a total of four people on the entire train.

Public transport in Sydney during Coronavirus restrictions

Australia wide there are a total of 6745 confirmed infections today and an increase of 17 which is equivalent to 0.25% from yesterday. All the states are starting to lift the restrictions, NSW just allowed up to two adults to visit another household. Hopefully, things keep going well and more restrictions can be relaxed in the coming weeks.

Australian Schools and Coronavirus – HSC 2020 – 21st of April 2020

Updates just came in that HSC will go ahead this year and the result is available in December. At this moment, look like the face to face of schooling is definitely back on in the third week of the term 2 for NSW.

I went to the supermarket on Thursday around lunchtime and was pleased to found the stock level was pretty good, plenty of pasta, toilet paper where previously these are stripped bare.

Australia wide there are a total of 6678 confirmed infections today and an increase of 20 which is equivalent to 0.30% from yesterday. The main talk is how and when the various lockdowns will be lifted. We probably look at another 3 to 4 weeks before this start to happen more quickly.

Australian Schools and Coronavirus – Term 2 Update Again – 21st of April 2020

NSW schools will reopen for face to face teaching on 11th of May. A rostering system will be implemented, the discussion I have read is that initially, they are aiming to have 20% of the student at the school during any day. This will be adjusted throughout the term. If COVID-19 curve continues being flattened then more students will be brought into the school for face to face teaching.

I went into the office yesterday to help with some setups. The road is pretty empty and I was able to park at the office as well, I usually took public transport as there is not enough parking for everyone at the office. The combination of the lockdowns and school holiday means that road is really empty with excellent traffic. The kids are “devastated” hearing the news that they are going back to school soon.

Australia wide there are a total of 6644 confirmed infections today and an increase of 23 which is equivalent to 0.35% from yesterday. The restrictions on the elective surgery have been largely lifted now, that is the first step on the road to relaxing the lockdowns.

Australian Schools and Coronavirus – Term 2 Status Update – 17th of April 2020

More updates just came out today, Western Australian school term 2 will start on 28th of April and parents can choose to keep their children at home as well. For the students that are kept at home, they will be taught remotely. However, year 11 and 12 students will be encouraged to attend physically.

Australia wide there are a total of 6525 confirmed infections today and an increase of 47 which is equivalent to 0.73% from yesterday. At this stage, if things keep going well and the government said lockdowns may be relaxed after four more weeks.

Australian Schools and Coronavirus – Term 2 Status For All States – 16th of April 2020

NSW prime minister just came out with more information with the term 2 opening dates. I thought this would be a chance to go over what is happening with every states in Australia in more detail.

View Post

  1. New South Wales school term 2 starts on 27th of April and the first two weeks will be taught remotely, more students will be brought back into school from week 3. No details on how this will be done yet.
  2. Victoria school term 2 started on 14th of April and will be taught remotely. A review will be conducted in week 5 to determine what will happen next.
  3. Queensland school term 2 starts on the 20th of April and it will be taught remotely as well. Thisn arrangement will be re-evaluated on the 15th of May.
  4. South Australian school term 2 starts on 27th of April, all schools will open on that date, however, parents will have the choice to keep their children at home.
  5. Western Australian school term 2 starts on the 28th of April and as of yet, there is no information on how it will be taught.
  6. Tasmanian school term 2 starts on the 28th of April and will be taught remotely as well.
  7. Northern Territory school term 2 will start on the 20th of April and students will be required to attend physically. Also the same as Tasmania, parents can choose to keep their children at home and taught remotely as well.
  8. ACT school term 2 will start on the 28th of April and it will be taught remotely.

Australia wide there are a total of 6478 confirmed infections today and an increase of 33 which is equivalent to 0.51% from yesterday.

Australian Schools and Coronavirus – Term 2 For Victoria And NSW – 15th of April 2020

Victorian government has confirmed that the next school term will be taught remotely for all students where possible. The schools will stay open for students of essential workers or who does not have the means to study remotely. This will be reviewed after week five, but judging from how things are going currently schools are not expected to reopen generally until the term 3 in late July at the earliest.

NSW schools are in the same situation where they are not expected to reopen until term 3 in August. Term 2 will be taught remotely as well.

The rest of the states are in a similar situation, basically, all primary and secondary schools are not expected to reopen until term 3 in the second half of the year.

Australia wide there are a total of 6448 confirmed infections today and an increase of 34 which is equivalent to 0.53% from yesterday. NSW is broadening the testing criteria and basically, at this stage, anybody with temperature, cough and sore throat will be tested. This is very good and combined with pretty severe lockdowns that are currently in place. If things are currently holding out well, we may start to see a relaxation of lockdowns in another 4 to 6 weeks.

School Holiday Is Finally Here And I Love It

School holiday started last Friday and I love it so far. I finally got a breather in and basically sleep every day until I woke up naturally. I am catching up on some very much need to work on my site as well. Most of these at this moment are in the background like data gathering and processing. I should have a lot more school-related update coming out in the next few weeks.

Usually, with school holiday, we try to arrange extra activities to keep kids occupied. I was so exhausted trying to keep the kids going along with their online studies and do my paying job, this Easter and school holiday really gave me the chance to take a breather.

We stayed at the home entire weekend again. Things are pretty stable so far but the restrictions are really tight and do not look like to be relaxed anytime soon here in Sydney.
